We are glad to share with you the scientific work provided by Diagnostics and Civil Engineering Area (authors Agnese Attanasio and Alessandro Largo) uploaded on the open access platform of ProScience https://www.scientevents.com/proscience/.
This work, entitled “Valorization of construction and demolition wastes: RE4 building solutions”, focuses on the main challenges of the RE4 Project, which aims at the valorization of construction and demolition wastes (CDW) to be used as raw materials for novel and sustainable building solutions. The main goal of the project is to radically modify the conservative construction approach by promoting new technological solutions for the design and development of structural and non-structural pre-fabricated elements with high degree of recycled materials from CDW (e.g., concretes, bricks, tiles, fine fractions or lightweight materials e.g. plastic, wood) and reused structures from the partial or total demolition of buildings available in Europe. RE4 represents one of the main EU front-runner projects in the field of CDW valorization, reuse and recycling, whom results might pave the way towards a greener and more sustainable Construction industry in Europe that will be based totally on circular economy concept in the near future.
The RE4 project was introduced within the FENIX´s presentation at the EKOinnovation Forum on 30th November in Krtiny, Czech Republic. The forum aims to accelerate the emergence of modern solutions into everyday life. Participants were provided with an interesting discussion of current and future trends in this area and introduced modern sustainable technologies that can provide European Union countries with global competitiveness.
